The competitive examinations for various jobs are vast and various in nature. In the modern times the suitable personnel for various jobs are selected by competitive examinations. The Central Government, State Government and other public undertakings notify their vacancies in different publications such as employment news, PSC bulletins and leading newspapers. So, it is very difficult to summarize the various competitive exams in publications like this. It is therefore advised to keep abreast with the notifications appearing in the government. Periodicals and newspapers. For employment in Central Government, Railway, Banks, LIC and Postal department. It would be better if they go through employment news and for Kerala PSC examinations they can depend on the PSC bulletin. The following agencies for competitive examinations are outlined in this attempt.
Union Public Service Commission
The Union Public Service Commission has been entrusted with the following duties and role under the Constitution:
- Recruitment to services & posts under the Union through conduct of competitive examinations
- Recruitment to services & posts under the Central Government by Selection through Interviews
- Advising on the suitability of officers for appointment on promotion as well as transfer on-deputation
- Advising the Government on all matters relating to methods of recruitment to various services and posts
- Disciplinary cases relating to different civil services
- Miscellaneous matters relating to grant of extra ordinary pensions, reimbursement of legal expenses etc
