B.Ed PROGRAM

B.Ed  programs are usually one-year courses. The essential qualification to get enrolled into the B.Ed course in usually a degree in the concerned subject. But weight age will be given to the candidates having higher qualification. Most of the University across the country after the B.Ed program. Each University follows its own criteria of selection. In 1996 the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has issued regulations for the training of teachers. The guidelines of NCTE in this regard are that, ‘those who are desirous of entering the teaching profession at school level should seek admission only in a full time course with face to face class room instruction. Correspondence/Distance education courses are meant for serving teachers only. The Universities in Kerala offer B.Ed Degree in English, Malayalam, Hindi, Arabic, Sanskrit, Urdu, Mathematics, Physical Science, Natural Science, Social Studies, Home Science, Commerce, Computer Science and Geography.

Eligibility : 45% marks in the Degree Examination for Part II (concerned subject)
                   Commerce: M.Com 50% marks.
                   Home Science: 50% marks in M.Sc Home Science.
                   Computer science: 50% marks in MCA/M.Sc Computer Science/M.Sc Electronics.

SC/ST candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination. Departmental teachers are exempted from the upper mark limit. Mentally retarded, Deaf and dumb are not eligible to apply. Blinds are not eligible to apply for science subjects. There is no age restriction for joining the course.
